HUUUUUUUGE update this week ... almost TOO much stuff this time! I have a few GRAVE MISTAKE announcements but I'm going to hold off for a few weeks; for now I'm just sticking to the new distro stuff so here we go ...

First off, got a bunch of restocks in including some stuff that went fast after my last update ... more copies of the BAD BRAINS 171A 7", FUCKED UP "COUPLE TRACKS" 2xLP w/ bonus 7", and NO ONE RULES NYHC BOOK. I also got the DIRECT CONTROL "FAREWELL" LP back in stock, that had been out for a while and it's a must have ... a bunch of DERANGED, FERAL WARD, and HAVOC restocks, as well as some other stuff (Restock list is at the bottom of the email).

For the new releases ... where to begin? I got a TON of incredible reissues from labels like RADIO HEARTBEAT (RAXOLA, HUBBLE BUBBLE, THE QUICK), SING SING (RUDI, ORBITS, a TON more), and DIONYSUS (LA PESTE, THE QUICK, a TON of awesome 60s comps). All of those releases are top notch so if you are into old obscure garage / power pop / punk reissues then today is your lucky day!

For new stuff, I finally got some of the new REGULATIONS LP in and it rules, I also restocked on their other two LPs just incase you missed those. I also the new DEFECT DEFECT LP and that one is KILLER ... i've probably listened to it ten times straight so far (along with the RAXOLA LP Reissue). Got some copies of the new DRY-ROT LP; in case you missed out I got copies of the ripping MAD MEN "DEMOS" 12" bootleg (Jonah from CAREER SUICIDE / FUCKED UP'S band) ... two sick 7"s from Norway's DISHONORABLE DISCHARGE, the debut 7" from VA's TOTAL WRECK, some copies of the EUROPEAN version of the CLOAK/DAGGER "DON'T NEED A" 7" (with SILKSCREENED COVER!). New SINKS 7", BATTLE RUINS 7", repress of the first INEPSY 7", a bunch of FUCKED UP singles (as well as CHEMISTRY OF COMMON LIFE restock).

I got a handful of new zines (including the newest issue of GOT MYSELF which is awesome), and a ton of new demos tapes in ...

Trying something new here (for me at least). I put 30 Grave Mistake releases on sale (including some limited color versions) in the webstore ... this includes pretty much every GM release I currently have available with the exception of the two newest releases (Southside Stranglers 7" and new Cloak/Dagger 7"). These prices will be good through the end of January so check it out if you are interested. SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS "TOO MUCH TV" 7" OUT NOW!

Happy New year! First update for 2010, kicking things off with a brand new release ... GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS and VICIOUS CIRCLE RECORDS are extremely excited to bring you the debut 7" from Richmond's SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS! SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS have been kicking around town for about a year or so now ... causing a spectacle and turning heads at every show they play. While they've managed to keep themselves under the radar by staying inside the Richmond city limits until recently, with no proper release until now (aside from the limited tape of this EP at last years No Way Fest), we are pretty sure this 7" will make them a household name before long.

Featuring Kenny from GOVERNMENT WARNING on vocals, Brandon from, uh, every band in Richmond (GW, Direct Control, you know the list ...), on guitar, and some other bad dudes holding the rhythm down, "TOO MUCH TV" is their first (of hopefully many more) vinyl offering, and it is definitely one infectious slab of wax. This six song EP serves up some ferocious rock and roll, drawing heavy influences from 70's punk and the rock and roll swagger of 60's garage bands; it's raw enough to keep you on your toes and catchy enough to hook you after one listen.

As always, we've got some nice colored vinyl (BLUE VINYL to be exact) for mailorder in the GRAVE MISTAKE WEBSTORE ... only about 100 though so get on that!

Happy New Year to everyone! I'm back from vacation and getting things rolling again ... I'm pretty backed up with orders from over the holidays but I hope to have em all packed and out by the weekend. Expect a new release very shortly as well as a distro update!

In bad news .. the US Postal Service changed some rates and stuff and for some reason broke part of my webstore. INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS - for some reason it won't offer the cheaper shipping methods for orders (First Class International or Priority Flat Rate Envelope). VACATION!

Just a quick reminder - I'll be on Vacation from December 23 through January 4th. You can still order from the webstore, but please keep in mind that any orders placed from now through then won't ship until the first week in January when I get back.

2010 is looking to start out strong, the SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS "TOO MUCH TV" 7" will be ready to go when I get back ... the record looks and sounds incredible! This is a split with VICIOUS CIRCLE RECORDS, and we are really excited to get this one out so people can check it out. Then later in January we will finally see THE ERGS "THRASH COMPACTOR" 7"! Yet another split with FIRESTARTER RECORDS, this has been in the works for like three years now but it will be worth the wait. Exciting!

Expect a ton of great new distro stuff in the webstore as well, I'm trying to beef the distro up even more over the next few months, so save your christmas money for some records!

Well 2009 is about to come to an end, here is the last Grave Mistake webstore update for the year! It's actually a pretty good one too with a LOT of great new releases in stock, so I'm glad we can send 2009 out with a bang. Not much new to report on the label front; the CLOAK/DAGGER "DON'T NEED A" 7" is still going strong, so be sure to pick that up if you haven't yet ... this year was a busy one so thanks to EVERYONE for your support of both the label and the mailorder, I couldn't do this without everyone and appreciate it more than you know!

Sadly, it looks like the SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS 7" and ERGS 7" won't be officially released until 2010 (although SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS have their copies of the record and will be selling them this week on their short Northeast tour and record release show this saturday here in Richmond), so stay tuned after the New Year for order information on those releases because they will be ready sooner than you think.

Some quick holiday shipping news for all of my mailorder customers ... I will be out of town on vacation from December 23rd through January 4th. The webstore will be open BUT I will not be shipping any orders until I get back. Please feel free to order stuff but please keep in mind the wait will be just a little bit longer than normal. Also, because I will be heading out of town next Wednesday, any orders placed after Monday, December 21st might not ship until the new year. I got a ton of new releases from NO IDEA (MARKED MEN, ERGS, NO FRIENDS, AMERICAN CHEESEBURGER, COPYRIGHTS, and more). Finland's COMBAT ROCK delivered a new 7" from Finnish punks KAKKA HATA 77 (their third EP), as well as a 12" with their first two 7"s ... I think everyone needs to check this band out. I also have copies of their second 7" which is great! I also have a couple of copies of the LAMA 7" reissues (only 2 of each so act FAST if you want one!). I also got a bunch of great LPs in, including two PAINTBOX 12"s, YOUNG GOVERNOR 12", FAILURES 12", MARKED MEN "FIX MY BRAIN" 12", two TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET 12"s, MAGRUDERGRIND 12", NOISE BY NUMBERS 12" (highly recommended!), GUILT TRIP 12", MEMORIAL 12" (also highly recommended), HELLNATION/CAPITALIST CASUALTIES 12", two COBRA SKULLS 12"s, and more!

Huge update this month ... and a LOT of new titles in the webstore! Before I get to that however, I want to let everyone know that the brand new CLOAK/DAGGER "DON'T NEED A" 7" is in and ready to go! Thanks to everyone who preordered, I sent about 95% of the preorders out on Monday and the rest will be out by the end of the week. I still do have a small amount of RED VINYL left (limited to 200). This EP is a one time pressing, so grab it fast! Distros and stores should have them soon as well, but once it's gone it won't be repressed. We are all very excited with how it came out and I hope you will be too. As always, distros and stores get in touch for wholesale and labels get in touch for trades!

In other GRAVE MISTAKE related new releases, I got copies of the new PSYCHED TO DIE "SCATTER BRAINED" 7" that came out on DIRTNAP a month or so ago ... it's an incredible follow up to the STERILE WALLS 7" we put out earlier this year ... so do yourself a favor and grab that one! I also have a handful of copies of the new CLOAK/DAGGER "LOST ART" 12" on JADE TREE so be sure to grab that because it's awesome! Both of those are in the webstore so grab em while you can.

Quick update on the other upcoming GRAVE MISTAKE releases ... both the SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS 7" and ERGS 7"s will be out hopefully by early December, I'm just working on getting the artwork taken care of! Considering the success of the CLOAK/DAGGER preorders, I think I might do preorders for these records too once everything is finalized with the layouts. I'm also working on FINALLY getting my digital distribution (iTunes, etc) set up but more news on that as it materializes. After these new releases, I'm going to focus on getting the GOVERNMENT WARNING and WASTED TIME discography cds out ... but it looks like those have been pushed back until early next year. The new LP from the UK's THE HORROR, the WARCRY demos 12", some FERAL WARD stuff including LPs from MORNE, AI, HARD SKIN and a repress of INEPSY's R'N'R BABYLON. Some cool new releases from FDH (EARTHMEN AND STRANGERS, POPPTS, and MAC BLACKOUT).

I got a lot of killer pop punk, including all three BANNER PILOT 12"s ... definitely check this band out they are probably one of my new favorites. I've been listening to their newest LP "Collapser" on repeat since I got it (definitely going in my top 5 for 2009), and their other two 12"s on KISS OF DEATH RECORDS are awesome too ... speaking of Kiss Of Death I got a ton of their releases, so check that stuff out. I also got the newest RIVERDALES LP (INVASION USA), as well as their PHASE 3 LP. Got two COPYRIGHTS 12"s, two MORAL CRUX 12" reissues, and the first three SAMIAM LPs!!! Really excited to get those SAMIAM records in stock, they are one of my favorites and was lucky enough to catch them at THE FEST a few weeks ago and they were incredible!!! I also grabbed some copies of the first REGGIE AND THE FULL EFFECT 12" ... guilty pleasure what can I say?

Finally ... I've always made it a point to try and stock up on what I felt where "CLASSIC" hardcore/punk titles and reissues, and this update brings a TON of them ... you can check the list below but I have essential 12" releases from ADOLESCENTS, CIRCLE JERKS, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, CHRISTIAN DEATH, SOCIAL UNREST, F, RAW POWER, KRAUT, REAGAN YOUTH, plus a bunch of MYSTIC 12"s and some rad DANGERHOUSE RECORDS anthologies, including the first 2 Vols. of their singles collections, and two WEIRDOS collection LPs. PREORDER the CLOAK/DAGGER "DON'T NEED A" 7" HERE!!

That's right, a brand new three song 7" EP from CLOAK/DAGGER! This single charges through the title track "DON'T NEED A" which is taken from their upcoming LP "LOST ART" due out on JADE TREE this NOVEMBER, and is rounded out with two non-LP tracks on the B-side, only available on this single. This 7" comes with a digital download code, and there is limited RED VINYL (out of 200) available for mailorder while they last.

Originally released in Europe on ADAGIO 830 earlier this fall for CLOAK/DAGGER's European Tour, GRAVE MISTAKE was given the honor of releasing this little three song slab here in the US. This will be a one time press, so once they are gone they are gone. I'm pretty excited about this new CLOAK/DAGGER material, it shows progression as a band while staying true to the raw sound they'd been developing on their earlier releases. Definitely top notch stuff, if you were into the WE ARE LP, then you should love these new releases as well!!!

As you probably have noticed, I normally don't do preorders but I wanted to let the world know that this record is going to be available to coincide with the release of their new LP which will be out next month. I have been assured by the pressing plant that the vinyl will be in next week (right when I get back from The Fest), and the covers should be ready then as well. Unfortunately we won't have them in time for The Fest, so go ahead and order it now! They will start shipping as soon as everything is in, I'm shooting for November 9th so let's keep our fingers crossed. If you happen to order other records with the preorder, that's completely fine but just remember that your whole order won't ship until the CLOAK/DAGGER 7" is in.

Happy Fall! Here's an update for you since I've been laying low for the past few months. Well, summer is long gone and the 2009 is almost up ... it's been quite a busy year here at Grave Mistake. So far this year we've seen six new 7"s, two new LPs, and one new cd, had a nice European excursion with GW and Wasted Time, had a blast at No Way Fest 3, and have filled what seems like a zillion mailorders, distro orders, and trades. I have lost countless hours of sleep trying to get it all done ... but it's been worth it. I'd like to say that I will be wrapping this year up quietly, but that would be too easy ...

I've got three brand new 7" releases expected out before winter hits ... first off is the debut 7" from Richmond's SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS. SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS features Kenny and Brandon from GOVERNMENT WARNING, and have been playing around Richmond nonstop for the better part of this year. We will finally be seeing their first official release next month. This EP will be a split with my good friend Dave Brown and VICIOUS CIRCLE RECORDS. Also in the works is a brand new 7" from CLOAK/DAGGER. This three song single features a cut from their upcoming LOST ART LP on JADE TREE, plus two brand new, non-LP B-sides. I am trying my hardest to have these ready in time for THE FEST at the end of this month, let's keep our fingers crossed!

Finally, and I've been talking about this one for years (literally), but THE ERGS "THRASH COMPACTOR" 7" will FINALLY see the light of day. The test presses should be in next week, I MIGHT have these by THE FEST as well, but we'll see. For those that aren't familiar with this EP, or might find an ERGS record on GRAVE MISTAKE a little odd, I can assure you that this record smokes. Five blazing fast hardcore songs in about three minutes on this one-sided EP. Definitely not the standard output you woul expect from an ERGS record, but anyone familiar with the band knows that they have been known to stray from the melodic at times and have a penchant for 80s hardcore ... so this really shouldn't come as a surprise. This will be a split with FIRESTARTER RECORDS.

Also in the works, hopefully for this year but definitely in the near future, will be complete discography CDs for both GOVERNMENT WARNING and WASTED TIME. The WASTED TIME CD will feature the FUTILITY 12", both EPs, and their track from NO BULLSHIT VOL. 2. The GOVERNMENT WARNING CD will be 40 songs, pretty much everything the band has recorded; both the PARANOID MESS and NO MODERATION LPs, all three 7" EPs, the song from NO BULLSHIT VOL 1, and a couple of surprises as well. The music for both of these CDs have been compiled and mastered, so it's just a matter of getting the artwork ready to go. They will both definitely happen though, and hopefully sooner than later.

On a final note, last week saw the seventh anniversary of GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS. Now I know that seven years isn't usually seen as a "landmark" anniversary year, but this is just the first year I've paid attention. So ... in honor of the past seven years of my life I flushed down the toilet, I'm offering seven stupid special little package deals in the webstore. HUGE WEBSTORE UPDATE FOR AUGUST

A lot of new distro stock has been piling up here at GMHQ over the past month and a half, but I've finally managed to get a good bulk of it into the webstore (with more on the way) ...

As far as the new GRAVE MISTAKE releases, I still have a few copies of the WASTED TIME "FUTILITY" 12" and the LOGIC PROBLEM "NO CENTER" 7" on color, and regular versions of the GOVERNMENT WARNING "PARANOID MESS" 12", GOVERNMENT WARNING "EXECUTED" 7", and LADIES "S/T" 7" if you have yet to pick them up.

These new releases are still going strong, if you do a label, distro, store, etc and want to get some copies of these or any other Grave Mistake releases, please feel free to email me at gravemistakerecords@gmail.com for a trade/wholesale list.

All of the other planned releases for 2009 are still in the works, hope to have the SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS and THE ERGS 7"s sent off to the plant this week, and if all goes well the BAD ADVICE recording should be completed in the very near future. There are also plans for discography cds for both WASTED TIME and GOVERNMENT WARNING. And if things go according to plan, we will be giving LIFELINE RECORDS a hand in repressing the first CARDIAC ARREST 7" as well as a US pressing of the LOGIC PROBLEM 12" that came out this summer in Europe.

For LPs, I finally got a bunch of copies of the highly anticipated new "FAREWELL" LP from DIRECT CONTROL, which is a definite must have. I have the brand new LP from the UK's SHITTY LIMITS (who just finished up their US tour with LOGIC PROBLEM), I also have brand new 12"s from COKE BUST, GUILTY FACES, CAT PARTY, SMALLTOWN, and WOLFBRIGADE. I've got two CRUDE LPS on FERAL WARD and I just got a bunch of stuff from the NO IDEA DISTRO including the new DEAR LANDLORD LP, ERGS "BEN KWELLER" 12", the essential DILLINGER FOUR "THIS SHIT IS GENIUS" singles collection, a repress of the SCREECHING WEASEL "WIGGLE" LP, the new SHOREBIRDS LP, and for you alt-country people I have the LUCERO "NOBODY'S DARLING" repress and the first WHISKEY & CO. record which was recently put onto vinyl (both personal favorites). For you fans of evilness and all things heavy I got a bunch of releases from A389 including the new PULLING TEETH 12" and ROT IN HELL 12", as well as LPs from GEHENNA, DAY OF MOURNING, and OAK.

Got a bunch of awesome tapes, including an advance cassette version of the SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS debut EP that will be out this fall on GRAVE MISTAKE, european discography tapes from COKE BUST and SOCIALCIDE, and some impressive demos from Richmond's NO EXCUSE and Atlanta's TRAMPS. Also put a bunch of CDs in the store including the new PSYCHED TO DIE "YEAR ONE" cd which features their new EP on DIRTNAP, the STERILE WALLS ep, and their demo. Another cool CD I just got is a somewhat legit reissue of the GRAVEN IMAGE / HONOR ROLE "YOUR SKULL IS MY BOWL" cassette, a split tape between two great old Richmond hardcore bands that was put out in the early 80s ... that's definitely worth checking out. Finally, I have a bunch of zines including two newest issues of DISTORT, MRR, SELF AWARE, and SHORT FAST and LOUD.

I'm confident that everything has been well worth the wait. As much as I want to tell you that these will be some of the best hardcore records you will be buying this year, considering i'm in two of the bands ... I will spare you the ego trip :) I will however say that we are all completely thrilled with how everything turned out, and couldn't be more excited to finally to get these releases out to the masses.

Of course there is colored vinyl for the nerds, as well as a SMALL handful of leftover fest copies of some of the releases (act fast), and I also just put in over 100 new 7"s, 12"s and zines into the webstore (i think i'll be doing a separate update for that) so head on over and pick something up!!! It's been a while since I've done an update ... and the first since GW and WT have gotten back from Europe (which was a blast!) ... thanks to everyone who helped make that tour great, and thanks to all of the show promoters / organizers, everyone who fed us, kids who came out and the bands that we played with, all of the old friends we saw and the new ones we met ... i'd do a bigger list but I'm sure I'd leave someone out. Extra thanks to Flo at Trapdoor for putting everything together and Jonas from HOLY SHIT! records for driving us around, putting up with our stupidity and making sure we didn't all die in a fiery van wreck. Needless to say, both bands had an incredible time ...

Also, NO WAY FEST 3 went down a few weeks back and was an awesome time as well ... made for a long weekend but I enjoyed pretty much every second of it! Thanks to Brandon and Lauren for another great year, and thanks to everyone who came out to the GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS preshow, that's the first time I've done something like that and it hopefully won't be the last! If you didn't come out for the fest, you missed out ... so make the plans to come next year! Also thanks to everyone who picked up the new releases or distro stuff at the fest. NEW GRAVE MISTAKE RELEASES FOR 7.03.2009

GRAVE032: WASTED TIME - "FUTILITY" 12"
After two killer EPs, Richmond's WASTED TIME finally unleash their first devastating full length, FUTILITY. On this LP, WASTED TIME continue to deliver their trademark hard-as-nails brand of US hardcore. With the expansion of the band to a five piece, FUTILITY also finds the band drawing from additional influences, resulting in a more massive and ferocious sound than their previous releases.

GRAVE033: LOGIC PROBLEM - "NO CENTER" 7"
An incredible follow up EP to 2008's debut s/t 7" on SORRY STATE RECORDS. With NO CENTER, North Carolina's LOGIC PROBLEM deliver up four more abrupt bursts of fast and raw hardcore. While their debut EP seemed to separately showcase two different sides of the band, this new EP finds LOGIC PROBLEM hitting a perfect balance between the noise/feedback drenched discordance and the straightforward fast hardcore delivery. LOGIC PROBLEM summon an ominous and chaotic element to keep things interesting while still managing to keep it short and to the point for maximum impact.

GRAVE034: THE LADIES - "S/T" 7"
The debut EP from Richmond, VA's THE LADIES. Originally released in 2008 on Riff Raff records, Grave Mistake has been given the honor to handle the repress to coincide with their two new venomous singles on No Way and Cowabunga . Raw and obnoxious yet catchy as well, reminiscent of early DWARVES, with a couple of short and fast rippers thrown in to keep the crowd moving and the beer flying. Five obscene and insulting punk anthems guaranteed to hurt someones feelings.

GRAVE035: GOVERNMENT WARNING - "PARANOID MESS" 12"
Richmond, VA's one and only GOVERNMENT WARNING are at it again. Following 2006's “No Moderation” LP and 2007's “Arrested” EP comes their highly anticipated second full length; PARANOID MESS delivers fifteen more unrelenting tracks full of snotty hardcore attitude that musically lies somewhere between ZERO BOYS, VERBAL ABUSE, FU’s or ADOLESCENTS. The diverse songwriting that you have come to expect from GW is still very much present on this new LP, from the high speed hardcore blasts to the more mid tempo, hook laden fist pumpers, and everything in between. Great sounding record that brings to mind the golden era of US hardcore - absolutely timeless and essential. SPLIT RELEASE WITH NO WAY RECORDS.

GRAVE036: GOVERNMENT WARNING - "EXECUTED" 7"
Brand new 45 single to accompany the new full length. Recorded in the same session as PARANOID MESS. This was originally intended to be a European tour single but we just opted to make it a proper release instead. The title track charges through at varying speeds, musically taking cues from Kings of Punk era POISON IDEA topped with Kenny's biting vocal delivery, while the flip side backhands you with one quick ripper in standard GW fashion, followed up with a Battalion of Saints cover. SPLIT RELEASE WITH NO WAY RECORDS.

Distros, stores, and labels please get in touch about wholesale or trades!!!! European distros, both the WASTED TIME 12" and GOVERNMENT WARNING 12" have been released in europe on LA FAMILIA and LA VIDA ES UN MUS respectively, but those versions came out over a month ago so you should know this by now hopefully. But, unfortunately this means I can't do any wholesale or trades on these two LPs to europe ... all of the 7"s are available though, as well as all of the GRAVE MISTAKE releases from earlier this year.

Waiting is the hardest part ...

I'm sure you are wondering where these promised new releases are ... well, I am waiting for all 5 of the releases to be ready to go, and unfortunately the GW 12" covers are still MIA. We hope to have them very soon, and once they show up then everything will be good to go and ready for order.

Also to clear up some confusion ... not only is there a brand new GOVERNMENT WARNING 12" (PARANOID MESS), but there is also a brand new GW 7" e.p. as well ... the "EXECUTED" 7" is two new songs and a cover recorded in the LP session that we had originally talked about doing as a European tour 7". However, when it was all said and done, we opted to just make it an actual release. Anyways, be sure to grab both of those!

Thanks to everyone who came out to NO WAY FEST this year, all of the bands that played, everyone who picked up the new releases or some distro stuff. Extra thanks to Dave and Julia for helping me with the table this weekend, and Phil, Paul, Justin, Andy, and Tony for driving stuff and helping me carry boxes ... I couldn't have done it without you all!!!! And of course, thanks to Brandon and Lauren for another incredible fest, and thanks again for giving me my own day that was awesome! I've wanted to do a Grave Mistake show for a while, and I think it went off perfectly.

On that note ... I'll have a SMALL amount of the screened fest versions leftover and they will be available in the webstore when the new releases are up. But I can't hold any for anyone (so don't ask!) so you are gonna have to act FAST if you want to try and snag one. GOVERNMENT WARNING SHIRTS IN THE WEBSTORE!

I just put about 8 or so different GOVERNMENT WARNING tshirt designs (most with several different color schemes) in the webstore. People have been asking GW for a while if they could order shirts, and we've been meaning to do this for years but never got around to it until now.

I put pretty much every design we currently have in the store ... some of them we had decent amounts of, others were down to the last ones and twos and are just left overs that haven't been available for a while. So if you see a shirt you want in your size, better grab it fast because most of these won't be printed with the same color scheme (or at all) again.

Also, buying a shirt will help out GW a lot right now since we just bought our plane tickets for Europe and aren't trying to start the tour in debt so it's definitely helping the band out a lot!

Now, onto the releases ...

"COST OF LIVING" is the second EP from DC / Richmond's TIME TO ESCAPE and rips through five more killer tracks. If you grabbed their s/t EP back in 2007, then you should know what to expect on this one, no frills hardcore fast and to the point. This first press is out of 500, so pick it up before it's gone!

"STERILE WALLS" is the debut 7" from NJ's PSYCHED TO DIE ... formed last year and featuring members of THE ERGS!, FOR SCIENCE, SPLITTING HEADACHE, and HUNCHBACK (to name a few), they released a quick 4 song demo last summer. On their debut EP, they pulled out all of the stops, bringing us seven songs (six brand new ones and one demo song redone) and we couldn't be more thrilled with the results. This is a split release with FIRESTARTER RECORDS, so you can get mailorder or distro copies from either label. We have a handful of red vinyl as well, and the band will have a limited tour version to boot. PSYCHED TO DIE just started their tour with DEEP SLEEP, which brings us to ...

"PARANOID FUTURES" is the third 7" from Baltimore's DEEP SLEEP ... continuing down the path they were going down with last year's MANIC EUPHORIA, this EP brings six more melodic yet driving tunes, somewhat of a departure from their debut EP but still as vicious and bitter as ever. Definitely a natural progression for the band, considering the dudes listen to as much DOUGHBOYS, MEGA CITY FOUR, and ALL as they do hardcore (maybe moreso, if this record is any indication). PARANOID FUTURES definitely steps it up a notch from their previous efforts, and we're stoked to be able to release it for mass consumption. DEEP SLEEP will also have some limited tour covers with them, check the dates below!

And if three brand new 7" EPs wasn't enough, we also have the DEEP SLEEP "THREE THINGS AT ONCE" CD available! This is a 21 song collection of their three 7"s, so for the vinyl challenged or anyone who has yet to check them out but wants a comprehensive introduction, this disc is sure to come in handy. And if it wasn't obvious enough, the title and cover art pay homage to one of the bands most prominent influences and inspirations! So for the unacquainted, that should give you an idea of what you'd be getting yourself into ...

As promised, here's an update with what's about to go down with GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS. Got the first batch of 2009 releases right around the corner, some awesome stuff coming up in a few months, and some rad tours coming up too ...

I. New Releases

Keep your eyes peeled over the next couple of weeks, because we'll have some new releases ready for you. First up with be the second EP from DC's TIME TO ESCAPE, the COST OF LIVING E.P. We did their first EP (which was actually originally demo recordings) back in 2007, so hopefully you picked that up and have been eagerly waiting for this one. Well it's definitely worth the wait, as they deliver five more ripping tracks and recruited Brandon from Government Warning / Wasted Time for drum duties on this EP as well. Killer stuff for sure.

Also coming up very soon is the PSYCHED TO DIE "STERILE WALLS" 7", which is a split release with FIRESTARTER RECORDS. This fairly new band from the great state of NEW JERSEY (featuring members of SPLITTING HEADACHE, FOR SCIENCE, and THE ERGS) dropped an awesome demo last summer, so we are proud to bring their debut seven song 7" to the masses. These will be ready for their tour with DEEP SLEEP in early March, more info on that below.

Finally, we have not one but TWO new releases (well sort of) from Baltimore's one and only DEEP SLEEP. First is a brand new (their third) 7" EP, "PARANOID FUTURES" brings six more infections songs that pick up right where last years MANIC EUPHORIA 7" left off. We will also be releasing a 21 track collection CD appropriately titled "THREE THINGS AT ONCE," which as you may have guessed, is all three of their EPs on one convenient 5" plastic disc. We are crossing our fingers that these releases will be ready for their tour with PSYCHED TO DIE, so check em out when they come to town. And if they don't have new releases with them, then that will only add to the anticipation!

Finally, as far as current news goes, as I mentioned last week we did a small repress of the CLOAK/DAGGER "WE ARE" 12" ... 300 copies on white vinyl with stamped labels. This MIGHT be the final pressing, we aren't sure yet ... it's kind of hard to tell at this point. But pick it up if you haven't yet, and pick up CLOAK/DAGGER's brand new 7" ep on JADE TREE that just came out ...

Oh and we were excited to see the VIOLENT ARREST "CRIMINAL RECORD" 2x7" pop up on a few year end top ten lists in the new MRR, if you haven't grabbed that release yet then act fast because the first press is almost gone! I think the DEEP SLEEP and NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE EPs snuck on a couple of lists as well, and that was cool to see.

Psyched to Die should DEFINITELY have their new EP (the vinyl and covers are expected to come in tomorrow), and if all goes well DEEP SLEEP will have either their CD, maybe their new 7", or both. At worst, they'll have their first two EPs and some cool t-shirts.

III. SPRING RELEASES (GOVERNMENT WARNING, WASTED TIME, LOGIC PROBLEM, THE LADIES)

Planned for this spring are the second 7" from NC's LOGIC PROBLEM, a repress of the LADIES 7", and new LPs from GOVERNMENT WARNING and WASTED TIME.

LOGIC PROBLEM's second EP (entitled "NO CENTER") has been recorded and mastered and it sounds awesome, it's gonna be off to the plant this week ... hopefully you picked up their debut 7" last year on SORRY STATE, if you were into that then this one will not disappoint! They are also planning a european tour this summer, but I don't think anything is confirmed just yet.

We will also be doing a repress of the debut 7" from Richmond's LADIES ... the first press of 500 was released on RIFF RAFF RECORDS last year, and I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to handle the repress. If you see this record floating around, definitely pick it up, as it was one of my favorite releases from last year. Otherwise, you can wait for the Grave Mistake version which should be out next month. The LADIES also have a second EP due out on Cowabunga later this year.

The third release, and first full length from WASTED TIME is recorded and we are waiting for the master before we get it sent off to the plant. The new LP, titled "FUTILITY," delivers ten brand new devastating tracks that continue right where 2007's NO SHORE left off, and we couldn't be happier with how this came out! This 12" will be hopefully ready in time for their european tour with GOVERNMENT WARNING which starts at the end of May. There are also several european releases for WASTED TIME in the works, which include a 12" with both EPs, a european release of the new LP, and a CD release collecting all of these releases. More news on that later though ...

Also in the works is the second full length from Richmond's GOVERNMENT WARNING. This will be a split with our partners in crime NO WAY RECORDS, and if all goes as planned, you can expect 14 brand new songs ... the music has been recorded and the finishing touches are being put on the mix before we get it sent off, but so far everything sounds incredible! This will hopefully be ready in time for the european tour as well! There might be some type of CD to coincide with this release as well, but nothing is definite yet.

IV. GOVERNMENT WARNING / WASTED TIME - EUROPEAN TOUR

Yes, the rumors are true, both bands will be doing a two and a half week European tour together this spring. Flo at Trapdoor Tours has been working hard to set everything up for us, and all of the shows are pretty much set. Since we can only tour for such a short time, we were limited on the places we could play so if we weren't able to come to your area, we're sorry! If you feel like making a road trip to some of the shows, we'd be stoked! This might be the only time both bands will get to play Europe, so please come out and show them a good time!

If you saw the newest ad, you'll notice some releases that we've actually had to push back a little bit. The debut 7" from BAD ADVICE should hopefully be ready by NO WAY FEST this summer, and this will be a split with TENSION HEAD RECORDS. The debut 7" from SOUTHSIDE STRANGLERS should hopefully be out by the summer as well, this will be a split with NO WAY RECORDS. Also we still plan on doing THE ERGS "THRASH COMPACTOR" 7" with FIRESTARTER RECORDS, that will be out this summer as well, if not sooner!

Welcome to the first GRAVE MISTAKE distro update for 2009 ... this is actually the first one since early December 2008 I think. So I hope everyone is having a great new years so far. I'm not sure why it's taken so long to do another one, i guess i've just been busy ... or lazy ... or maybe a little of both. There is a ton of label news (new releases, tours, the works ...) but rather than overwhelm you with information in this email, I'm saving that for next week. Think of it as something for you to look forward to. I will just throw out that the repress of the CLOAK/DAGGER "WE ARE" 12" is available, 300 copies on white vinyl with stamped labels. This might be the final press ... so if you missed it the first time around, now is your chance. For now I'm just going to focus on all of the new stuff I just put in the webstore ... 2009 is off to a good start as far as new releases go, so let's just cut straight to the chase ...

I think the two records I'm most excited about this year are the brand new full lengths from the MARKED MEN and MASSHYSTERI. These are probably two records I've been anticipating the most over the past several months, and they definitely exceeded my expectations so I can't recommend them enough! And if those weren't enough, NO WAY released two heavy hitting full lengths from HJERTESTOP and INSOMNIO (their second), and along with the NO SYSTEM 7"(Al Quints old band!) ... NO WAY is hitting the ground running this year.

Some more things to be excited about, two ZERO BOYS reissues, one being the classic VICIOUS CIRCLE getting the vinyl treatment once again, and the HISTORY OF, a collection of rarities from this classic band. Other LPs definitely worth your money are the new outputs from TOTAL ABUSE, NITAD, CHEAP TRAGEDIES, and NO SLOGAN. Some classic Dischord titles back in print (DAG NASTY CAN I SAY and the FAITH / VOID split) as well as the ONE LAST WISH stuff finally pressed to vinyl. Havoc delivered not one, not two, but THREE new reissues worth of material from CT punk's one and only THE PIST. I also scored a bunch of copies of the VULTURES 12" from VA's own TARPIT along with a handful of their CHECKMATE 7"s ... both of these are long out of print so grab em while you can!

Got a bunch of copies of the ADULT CRASH photobook by my good friend DAVE BROWN. I can't say enough great things about this book, and I've watched Dave labor for years over this thing and it was well worth the wait because the book came out perfect. Check the description below for more info, but it's definitely worth getting for the pictures alone, and and comes with an awesome 7" as an added bonus ...

In the small vinyl category, brand new 10 song crusher of an EP from MIND ERASER (these are first press copies which are already sold out from the label!), a new two song single from CLOAK/DAGGER, the ripping debut ep from Atlanta's BUKKAKE BOYS, new eps from WORMEATERS, HUMANOIDS, DAYLIGHT ROBBERY, SAVAGE LAND, PERDITION, SUDDEN WALKS, HIGH LIFE, an awesome split between AUTISTIC YOUTH and COLA FREAKS, and a repress of the classic SARS ep from CAREER SUICIDE. In the "better get this before it's gone" category are the new limited singles from PIG HEART TRANSPLANT and GENETIC ANGRY. Lot's of new EPs coming from the west coast including new 7"s from LOSER LIFE, THE NECKTIES, VIDEO DISEASE, the official press of BAD ANTICS "The Wave" EP (one of my faves from 2008), plus the WELCOME TO THE GOLDEN STATE comp on Cowabunga.

Got some great pop punk titles in as well, some of my personal favorites .. two reissues from SCREECHING WEASEL, THE QUEERS' classic LOVE SONGS FOR THE RETARDED, ALKALINE TRIO'S GOOD MOURNIING DOUBLE LP, the first full length from MD's HEAD HOME (featuring members of DEEP SLEEP), the SHOREBIRDS debut 7".

And for you readers, i got a handful of cool zines in as well as a few issues of MRR in case you missed those.

Finally, a ton of restocks from your favorite labels like DIRTNAP, FASHIONABLE IDIOTS, SIX FEET UNDER, ROCK BOTTOM, more copies of the OBSERVERS demo 7" (european release), the SEX/VID 12", and finally got some more TOWN OF HARDCORE books, which you definitely need if you have been sleeping on it.

For new stuff, this week we have some killer vinyl in the 12 inch format ... got a few copies of the brand new SEX/VID 12", you know you need to get that. Also got the great new full length from Richmond's own (well, not so much anymore) PINK RAZORS a little different from their previous records but incredible still. Have some copies of the third in the series of NAKED RAYGUN 12" reissues, that being a reissue of their ALL RISE 12", the new LIBYANS 12", finally got the ESTRANGED 12" back in stock, scored a nice haul from KANGAROO RECORDS, which include the ripping SOCIALCIDE - UNAPPROACHABLE 12" which you need to get since it's one of the best hardcore records that came out this year. Along with that got some restocks of the first OUT COLD 12", the OFFENDERS - ENDLESS STRUGGLE 12", some copies of the OUT COLD / FOR THE WORSE 7", plus finally got some copies of the INMATES 7" that came out this summer so if you've been sleeping on that one then you better get on it!

Also scored a bunch of copies of the BLACKLISTED vs. DALEK picture disc and INTERNAL AFFAIRS vs. DALEK 12", these were a sort of "project" 12"s that these bands did with artist DALEK. I was lucky enough to get copies of each for distro, and have them a little bit cheaper than what they were normally going for, as an added bonus DALEK has signed all of these copies so check those out ...

Definitely pick up the new EP from the one and only MARKED MEN, two brand new tracks to tide us over until their new LP comes out in early 2009. The EP features one LP track and one exclusive b-side, and are limited to a one time pressing of 1000 so grab one now. Other cool 7"s to check out are the TRAPPED UNDER ICE / DIRTY MONEY split 7", the new ep from Canada's TRIOXIN 245, a killer split from INTENSITY and E-150, and a ton of other stuff as well, the full list is below!

As far as label news goes ... new TIME TO ESCAPE 7" is off to the plant, PSYCHED TO DIE and DEEP SLEEP will be finishing their recordings very soon, I'll announce the rest later this month.

Pretty big webstore / mailorder update this time ... not much news to report on the record label front however. The VIOLENT ARREST double 7" is still going strong so pick that up if you haven't already!!! Also got the 2nd press of the DEEP SLEEP "MANIC EUPHORIA " 7" ... did a few on ORANGE vinyl (with orange covers to match, of course) and those are available in the store. Oh, and we got a few brand new WASTED TIME t-shirts in ... an interesting take on the UNITY 7" artwork from the one and only BRIAN WALSBY ... check it out. No more new GRAVE MISTAKE releases planned for 2008 ... but lot's planned for 2009. I'll hopefully do an official announcement before the end of the year so keep an eye out for that ...

Onto the distro stuff ... the holidays are creeping up on us so now is a good time to spend all of your money on records for yourself before you go wasting it on gifts for other people!!!! OR i guess you could get records as gifts, that works too ... And the good news is I got a TON of new stuff in ... and most of it is pretty damn good!. A lot of new LPs in stock and they are taking up a lot of room in my apartment so please feel free to buy as many as you'd like, you can never have too many long playing vinyls. Let's start with the small records first though ... new 7"s from the OBSERVERS (european vinyl pressing of their demo with a great packaging!), debut EPs from GUILT TRIP, BLACK MARK the final ep from the UK's SELF DESTRUCT, new 7"s from TIPPER'S GORE, CONDOMINIUM, MENTAL, IMPULSE INT'L, LOST CAUSE ... three new releases from FASHIONABLE IDIOTS (HERDS, BIRTH CONTROL, live CHRONIC SEIZURE 7"s), GERM ATTAK, ROOM 13 (this band rips!), a handful of reissues from NO PIG, PANDAMONIUM, FINAL WARNING (originally released on FATAL ERECTION IN 1984), repress of an old D4 7", new PINHEAD GUNPOWDER ep, and a lot more!

For LPs ... some killer stuff. Got the new FUCKED UP double 12", the new DILLINGER FOUR 12" (which is incredible, easily in my top 10 for this year), the new GASLIGHT ANTHEM 12" (awesome as well, but don't tell the punx you listen to this stuff!!!!), third (and best so far) release from TRISTESS, new LP from the one and only BABY SHAKES, reissues of the first COLD SWEAT 12" and a 12" reissue of the H-100s classic DISMANTLE ep., JAY REATARD singles collection, some sweet posi core from cleveland's RIGHT IDEA. For you no idea / pop punk nerds got some infectious 12"s from LATTERMAN, MONIKERS, YOUNG LIVERS, TIM VERSION, and the new DILLINGER FOUR (did I mention that yet???). And a handful of awesome european 12"s from VOGUE, JUSTICE, BRAT PACK, DAMAGED GOODS, SKITKIDS, and THE RATS!!

Two new issues of some VA area zines ... the second issue of GOT MYSELF out of CHARLOTTESVILLE and the 9th issue of WHO CARES? out of Richmond!!! Also got the most recent issue of the UK's ARTCORE fanzine which has the great 7" reissue of old 80's VA band BEEF PEOPLE! All of this reading material is highly recommended, as good zines are harder and harder to come by these days.

Finally ... got a bunch more awesome reprint T-SHIRTS from our friends down at NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT ... the list of bands is below so check those out too! I only have a few of each design for different sizes (ones and twos), so if you see something you want better grab it fast!!!
