CLOAK/DAGGER "WE ARE" 12" / SCREENED VERSION SOLD OUT

The silkscreened version of the CLOAK/DAGGER "WE ARE" LP is sold out through the webstore. The band has copies and you can scoop one up from them at one of their shows this summer (www.myspace.com/wearecloakdagger). We still have a bunch of the regular version available however for mailorer. To be honest I'm not sure if this will see a second pressing or not so if you are thinking about getting one you might as well do so now.

If you have placed an order last week, about two thirds of them are going out today, sorry for the delay. The rest will go out later this week, as I ran out of LP mailers and have to wait to get more. Distros will be getting their copies over the next few weeks.

CLOAK/DAGGER "WE ARE" 12" OUT NOW!!!

That's right! The vinyl version of the CLOAK/DAGGER full length "WE ARE" is now available! "WE ARE" officially came out on CD last fall on JADE TREE RECORDS, and we know that a lot of you have been waiting VERY patiently for the vinyl release so here it is! The record was remastered by Dan Randall at MAMMOTH SOUND and sounds better than ever! This is actually the first LP that GRAVE MISTAKE has done since the label started, and we couldn't be happier with how everything came out. If you have yet to check out this record, then now would be the perfect time to do so.

We tried to get some colored vinyl for this LP, since everyone loves the limited stuff ... unfortunately as the record went to press, there was a color vinyl shortage and a handful of pressing plants (including the one we used) had nothing available. Since we couldn't do this record without having some type of fun little version, we went to plan B. What this plan entailed was to somehow con Matt, the new C/D bassist, into screening up a bunch of special covers. Lucky for us, Matt has his own little silkscreening company (www.creativepanic.com), so not only was he thrilled to do these but they came out looking brilliant! Turns out, not only is he a pro at screening LP covers, but a one color screen to him was a walk in the park ... check out his site for some other awesome show posters he's done.

Anyways, enough nerd talk ... the 12" is now available in the GRAVE MISTAKE WEBSTORE and the Silkscreened versions are all ready to go! The screened versions are limited to one per person, but you can order as many regular versions as you'd like! So head on over and order this thing ... because honestly they are taking up a lot of room in my apartment. The Daggers will also have a fair share of the screened version too so check them out as they are playing a handful of east coast shows this summer.

WEBSTORE stuff! Real quick ... I just put a bunch of new releases and restocks in the store and that list is below but here is the rundown: Brand new full length LPs from ANNIHILATION TIME, THE ESTRANGED, CHRONIC SEIZURE, DEAN DIRG, and ANTI-PLAYAX. Seriously, all of these records are killer and are highly recommended. Also a cool 12" reissue from Norway's SO MUCH HATE. WEBSTORE CLOSED FOR THE WEEK / NO WAY FEST II

I'm taking a small break from the mailorder ... the webstore will be closed as of today through the weekend. The plan is to open it back up next week, and when I do I will have the CLOAK/DAGGER "WE ARE" 12" ready to go and maybe some other surprises. If you placed an order this weekend, it will be in the mail to you by Wednesday.

Also, I will have pretty much the full distro (minus CDs probably) set up at NO WAY FEST II which will be taking place this weekend (June 21-22) here in Richmond, VA. The CLOAK/DAGGER 12" will be available and I'll have about a billion boxes of records for you to dig through, and some new GOVERNMENT WARNING shirts as well. Well ... it has been a long and busy couple of months since the last email update, but here is an update as to what has been going on lately. First off, thanks to everyone who picked up the new DEEP SLEEP, CLOAK/DAGGER, and NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE 7"s!!!! And thanks for your patience with mailorders, as they took me a little bit longer to get to than usual. As far as the new releases go, there are still a handful of copies of the DEEP SLEEP "MANIC EUPHORIA" 7" on BLUE vinyl. NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE and CLOAK/DAGGER 7"s are sold out of first press, but second press is back in and all of your favorite distros should have copies by now (and if they don't, tell them to email me!)

The main purpose of this update is to inform everyone that the IRON BOOTS "2004 DEMO" 7" is out now! Originally released as a demo tape in 2004, the songs were pressed to 7" later that year on Damaged Records out of Atlanta. Many months and missing mailorders later, Brain Grenade Records picked up the 7" and did another pressing with a different layout. Those copies also went quickly, and the 7" went out of print once again.

Fastforward to the present ... I had the bright idea to bug the band and Brain Grenade to let Grave Mistake repress the 7" again, and that brings us to up to date. If you haven't heard these songs, then what you can expect are eight ripping tracks that sound like they were long lost outtakes from Warzone's "Don't Forget the Struggle, Don't Forget the Streets" record. If you know anything about IB, you know that they live off a steady diet of classic NYHC, and manage to blend a slew of these influences on this demo without letting up on the speed as they burn through most of these tracks in about a minute and a half.

Also, now would be a perfect time to announce the final IRON BOOTS show ever, which will be taking place in RICHMOND, VA on Saturday, May 31st at The Warehouse. After 5 years, the Boots are finally calling it a day so come out and send them off in style ... this show is guaranteed to be nuts. The show is a Bachelor party for our good friend Ryan Wall, so be sure to congratulate him and welcome him to married life. Also playing will be DOWN TO NOTHING, WAR HUNGRY, NAYSAYER, plus some special appearances from the Jersey Shore's one and only GET REAL and Richmond's DEAD SERIOUS.

In other GRAVE MISTAKE news, I'd also like to bid farewell to SET TO EXPLODE who played their last two shows a few weeks ago. Both shows were incredible, and STE definitely went out on with a bang. There is a video of one of the sets floating around the internerd somewhere, so check it out and watch Dave Byrd and co. repeatedly make the crowd feel awkward with threatening stage banter. Oh, and they ripped through some songs and sweet covers too ...

DEEP SLEEP - "MANIC EUPHORIA" 7"
Two years, lineup changes, drugs, jail, and other assorted misfortunes can't keep a good band down. Baltimore's DEEP SLEEP are back with a vengeance, this time around firing out six more tracks of their brand of seething yet addictive punk rock. Expanding on the early southern california punk influences of the first record, and adding an extra dosage of ALL/Descendents style weirdness and catchiness to the picture, MANIC EUPHORIA shows a distinct evolution from their debut while maintaining all of the elements you grew to love in the first place.

CLOAK/DAGGER - "KAMIKAZES" 7"
CLOAK/DAGGER tear through the distinctive guitar fuzz driven track "KAMIKAZES" off of their 2007 "WE ARE" full length (vinyl version out spring 2008 on GRAVE MISTAKE) on the A-side, then a blistering rendition of the MODERN LOVER'S cut "SHE CRACKED" on the flip. Still out of control, and you've still got a problem.

NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE - "CLAUSTROPHOBIC E.P." 7"
On their second E.P. (and third vinyl output) California's NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE bring you five more discordant cuts of raw and explosive hardcore! If you were lucky enough to grab either their demo 7" or the MINDLESS VIOLENCE E.P. on WAY BACK WHEN / EVEN WORSE you have an idea of what to expect: fast and biting hardcore that combines a range of influences and elements from early boston and california hc to japanese hardcore. With this new E.P., NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE have honed their sound even tighter and cranked up the power and intensity times ten, pummeling you with a nonstop barrage of sonic insanity. If you are still standing by the end of this EP, their upcoming 12" on TANKCRIMES will be sure to finish the job this summer.

On Saturday, April 5th, DEEP SLEEP and CLOAK/DAGGER will be playing MACROCK 2008 in Harrisonburg, VA this year along with GOVERNMENT WARNING, DOUBLE NEGATIVE, THE LADIES, POLICE AND THIEVES, and a ton more so come on out and pick up the new singles!!! I will also be doing a label panel with Rich from PARTS UNKNOWN and the dude from MAGIC BULLET. I think that's at noon or one so come out early and ask us stupid questions.

NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE just finished up a quick tour up and down their home state of CA with VA's own SOCIALCIDE, reports were that good times were had by all. NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE are about to embark on a full EUROPEAN TOUR so please check em out if they hit your area! Ronald from WAY BACK WHEN RECORDS put the tour together so check out his site for more info.

We've also got some killer stuff lined up next ... first up will be a repress of the IRON BOOTS DEMO 7"! Yes, this demo/record is so good that I begged the band to let me put it back in print, making GRAVE MISTAKE the THIRD label to release this! Hell, I wanted to release it back in 2004 but someone else beat me to it and, well you know the rest of that story. Luckily the record was released properly by the fine people at BRAIN GRENADE, but that press came and went pretty quick. They agreed to let me do another round just incase anyone missed this gem the first two times. This should hopefully be ready to go by the end of April.

After that, we will be helping CLOAK/DAGGER press up their 2007 Jade Tree full length "WE ARE" onto vinyl ... because seriously, who the hell buys CDs these days? So if you slept on it for this reason ... now you have no excuse. This 12" kills from start to finish ... if you don't believe me then you will just have to see for yourself. And to top it off, we had the entire record remastered by our good buddy DAN RANDALL at MAMMOTH SOUND. So get excited, because this thing is going to sound incredible once that needle hits the wax. That should hopefully be out in early May.

And to keep with the theme of "putting out stuff other people have already put out," this summer you can expect to see a US pressing of the debut 7" from Richmond, VA's one and only DIRECT CONTROL. Originally pressed on KANGAROO RECORDS in 2004, the band agreed to let me do an official press over here. Although a good amount made it across the pond, a few more can't hurt! So, once we track down a master CD (we THINK one of the band members might still have one), we'll be off and running. You should be familiar enough will DIRECT CONTROL by now, as they are one of the best harcore bands going these days ... if you were having trouble getting your hands on one of those s/t 7"s, then that's what we are here for.Now all we need to do is find that master CD ... hopefully this repress will be ready for NO WAY FEST in June.

The final upcoming release I'm going to announce is from the UK's one and only VIOLENT ARREST!!! We will once again be teaming up with our good friends at NO WAY RECORDS to bring you not one new 7", but a DOUBLE 7" of all new material from this awesome band. Hopefully you've picked up their two records on DERANGED, the new stuff rips just as hard if not harder! Apparently these guys know how to crank out the hits because they had enough new material for two new records, so we thought it would be a cool idea to do this project together. Hope to have these by mid summer!

On a final note ... I want to say an official goodbye to one of my favorite hardcore bands of all time, 86 MENTALITY. 86 played their last show on March 22nd, and needless to say, they went out on top as expected. It was an honor to have been able to work with such an incredible band. I can honestly say that, without them, there would be no GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS. So thanks dudes ... you will be missed.

UNSEEN FORCE - "IN SEARCH OF THE TRUTH" REISSUE OUT NOW!

Well first let me start off by wishing a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all! We are starting 2008 off with a bang ... couldn't be more excited to announce that the official cd reissue of Richmond, VA's UNSEEN FORCE "In Search of the Truth" LP is finally available! This ripper of an LP, originally pressed in 1986 by the band on Turbulent records, has been remastered from the original reels, and given the royal reissue treatment. The eleven tracks from the original LP have been complied with a live soundboard set from 1986, the 1984 demo of pre-UNSEEN FORCE band 2000 Maniacs, the original lyric sheet, and a ton of rare flyers and pictures from the band members own personal collections. Dave at VICIOUS CIRCLE RECORDS (who co released this reissue) has been working on this project for the past two years, and I couldn't have been more ecstatic to assist him in releasing this incredible (and quite obscure) piece of Richmond hardcore history.

For more info on UNSEEN FORCE and the release, please check out the description below, or even better ... just order it!!!!! I have them in the webstore, and all of your favorite mailorders and distros should have them in the upcoming weeks. Also, to add to the awesomeness of this reissue, NO WAY RECORDS will be reissuing the LP on vinyl later this year (early spring probably). So either way, check this reissue out!!!

In other GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS news, three more releases are scheduled for early 2008. At the plant now we have DEEP SLEEP's second 7", six more cuts of Descendents/All infected punk rock titled "MANIC EUPHORIA," and NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE'S third 7" five pissed hardcore blasts titled the "CLAUSTROPHOBIC" E.P. Both of these records are incredible, and I cannot wait to have them out!!! Right now, looking at an early March release for both so my fingers are crossed. For now, check out the brand new NIGHTSTICK JUSTICE "MINDLESS VIOLENCE" 7" that has just been released on EVEN WORSE / WAY BACK WHEN RECORDS out of Europe! That will prepare you for the hardcore devastation that is the CLAUSTROPHOBIC E.P.!!!

Then immediately following those two records, we will have a brand new 7" single from Richmond's CLOAK/DAGGER!! The single will feature a track off of there most recent "WE ARE" full length (JADE TREE RECORDS), as well as an awesome unreleased B-Side. Also planned for sometime in the first half of 2008 is the vinyl version of WE ARE, which will either be a split release with GM and the band, or a completely band self released press. Either way, I'll have some sort of hand in it and will have plenty of copies to go around!!

GRAVE020: UNSEEN FORCE - "IN SEARCH OF THE TRUTH" CD / OFFICIAL REISSUE
We've unearthed one hell of a hardcore gem with this one. Finally available once again after 22 long years is the official reissue of UNSEEN FORCE'S devastating LP from 1986 "IN SEARCH OF THE TRUTH." Hailing from none other than Richmond, VA, comprised of members of WHITE CROSS, HONOR ROLE, and 2000 MANIACS (and eventually FOUR WALLS FALLING and GWAR) ... UNSEEN FORCE made a name for themselves in their brief two year existence, playing countless shows both locally and nationwide, and releasing their 11 song monster of an LP.

This reissue (co-released with VICIOUS CIRCLE RECORDS) contains 35 songs total ... their long out of print "IN SEARCH OF THE TRUTH" full length (originally a one time, self released press of 500 copies) in it's entirety, a live soundboard set from their 1986 tour which features several unreleased tracks, and all of the tracks from the 2000 Maniacs (pre-UF band) 1984 demo. The LP songs were taken directly from the master reels, and all of the material was then remasterd by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound (who has mastered records for 86 MENTALITY, DIRECT CONTROL, GOVERNMENT WARNING, WASTED TIME, and tons more). Coupled with the original lyric sheet insert and a ton of rare flyers and pictures from the band members' personal collections, this release has been given the proper re-issue treatment it deserved. You won't find any post-hardcore mid 80's progressive art rock garbage here; we assure you that this cd contains nothing but, fast, chaotic unadulterated 80's hardcore punk rock.

Yes, it's been a while since I've had an "official" label update (aside from the webstore emails I send out every couple of weeks) ... lots of stuff planned for 2008. I'll be starting the year of right with a brand new release due out the first week in January! Also, will have a bunch of new stuff in the webstore as well as wholesale stuff available for the distros and stores. More on that later ... for now sit tight and enjoy the holidays!!! NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS

Nothing major, but a quick update ... the GOVERNMENT WARNING / WASTED TIME west coast tour was incredible! Thanks to everyone who helped out or hung out, special thanks to Yannick, Scott, and Lauren for coming along and making the tour possible. As always, thanks to the asshole who bought the tour version of the 7"s and put them on ebay the very next day.

There are a bunch of new records in the webstore, be sure to check them out! I'm starting to get more consistant with the webstore updates so if you aren't getting them all you need to do is take two seconds and create a webstore account and I'll put you on the mailing list.

In label news, DEEP SLEEP are currently finishing up their brand new 7" ... I have yet to hear any of it but I trust it will be just as killer as their first EP. Also, if all goes according to plan I will be helping out some friends unearth a rare 80's hardcore gem from our good ol' city of RICHMOND, VA ... more on that later though.

Well, the wait is finally over ... all three new E.P.'s are finally ready to go! It's been a long six months, but everything came together perfectly and we couldn't be more excited to finally have these records available.

First press on all three of these records are going fast, so definitely grab these while you can!!! You can order them from the GRAVE MISTAKE WEBSTORE (www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog), or you can pick them up next week from your favorite distro / label ...

For all of you limited vinyl hungry record nerds, here is the good news and the bad news ... good news is we have a decent amount of the GOVERNMENT WARNING 7" on color still (PINK to be exact!), but they are on a first come first serve basis so colored vinyl is not guaranteed. Bad news is we are all out of the WASTED TIME "NO SHORE" colored vinyl already!!! A lucky few who have already ordered will be getting the last of them, but that's it. TIME TO ESCAPE 7" ... we have about 30 left of the first press available but they should be hitting distros next week so keep an eye out if they are gone by the time you go to order. If you'd like a list of distros and labels that will be carrying these releases, just send an email to gravemistakerecords@gmail.com and I will be more then happy to point you in the right direction.

Also, one more bit of bad news (what a negative update this is turning out to be) ... the limited silkscreened versions we did for NO WAY FEST are long gone ... please do not email me about them or request them in your order. Two have already made it to ebay (same seller, of course), it only took 2 days after the fest ... so if you are looking for these versions you are going to have to hunt them down elsewhere. But that's half the fun of record collecting, right? Since we are on the topic, thanks to everyone who came out to the fest, checked out some bands, picked up some records, said hi, etc etc ... it was an incredible weekend!

It's been a busy couple of weeks, but all orders placed this week will begin shipping on Monday, July 9th. As you hopefully know, I like to get orders out as soon as possible so I'm going to try my hardest to get all orders out promptly.

US Postal Service had a rate change yesterday, not only did the increase prices but they completely changed shipping methods for international shipping ... so at the moment the webstore isn't working for international orders. The store will be updated for the new methods this week, but at the moment please sit tight ...

Also I'll be gone Wednesday through Sunday for CHAOS IN TEJAS fest in Texas, so when I get back next week everything will be in working order and all loose ends should be tied up ... so thanks for your patience.

Got all test presses approved for the three new releases ... still slacking on the layouts but vinyl will most definitely be available for NO WAY FEST. Mailorder on these releases won't start until everything is finished, so now it's lookin like end of June, that all depends on how fast we can get the artwork done and covers printed.

QUICK UPDATE ... NOT DEAD YET.

Yup, it's been a while since the last update so here's a brief one. The GOVERNMENT WARNING / WASTED TIME midwest tour was a blast, thanks to anyone who did a show, came out to a show, hung out, let us crash ... etc etc.

The new 7"s are in the process of being mastered before we send em off so if all goes well from here we are looking at a late May / early June release for both EPs. They will DEFINITELY be ready by NO WAY RECORDS fest in June in Richmond.

Some good shows coming up ... SET TO EXPLODE will be playing the YOUNGBLOOD RECORDS 10th anniversary show in PA on March 31, check out www.youngblood-records.com for more info on that show. Then the following day (APRIL FOOLS DAY!) in DC at the Alfishway Cafe we have 86 MENTALITY, SET TO EXPLODE, CLOAK/DAGGER ... and probably the best Aprils Fools joke you will ever witness. Check the SET TO EXPLODE myspace page for a flyer. May will bring us to Texas for the CHAOS IN TEJAS fest, both GOVERNMENT WARNING and DEEP SLEEP will be heading down there for three days of fun in the sun. Then June brings us NO WAY RECORDS fest in Richmond, two days of some of the best hardcore bands out now.

GRAVE MISTAKE RECORDS UPDATE - 1.12.07

Well another year is upon us, hope everyone had a good 2006 ... but out with the old and in with the new! We are looking forward to a good year with a handful of incredible records coming out, so let's get started!

***OUT NOW! 86 MENTALITY - S/T 7" E.P. (GRAVE004) REMASTERED AND REPRESSED!

Once again available to the masses on vinyl format, the 2004 debut 7" E.P. from Washington D.C.'s own 86 MENTALITY! This record was originally intended to be a one time press of 300 records, however the response to this E.P. was so good that we keep repressing it ... and repressing it ... and repressing it, each time thinking that each subsequent pressing of 300 would be the last. Three years later, people were still asking about this 7".

After the early pressings (five, count em!) ran out in the summer of 2005, we decided to let it rest for a bit, since the tracks were being put on the "GOIN NOWHERE FAST" anthology CD later that year (which, coincidentally, we just got back in stock for only $5 in the webstore!). The plan was that, if we were ever going to repress this 7", we would try and get it sounding and looking a little better than those original pressings ...

Which brings us up to date! After being out of print for well over a year, we decided to get this piece of wax remastered, tweak the layout a bit, and make it available once again for mass consumption ... and this repress looks and sounds better than ever!

If you have yet to have a proper introduction to 86 MENTALITY, no better place to start from than the beginning. What you can expect are six blasts of pure hard as nails hardcore punk, combining the intensity, rawness, and no bullshit punk rock attitude of all of your favorite early 80's hardcore bands.

And of course, since we didn't feel that there were enough versions of this E.P. out there for you collectors, we decided to press up 300 of this new and improved pressing on WHITE VINYL.

***WASTED TIME - "NO SHORE" 7" E.P.

WASTED TIME just got out of the studio from recording their second EP, tentatively titled "NO SHORE" ... holy shit their new stuff fucking destroys! We've just heard the rough mixes so far, but if that's any indicator than this is guaranteed to be one of the best hardcore records of the year. With the recent addition of Brandon from GOVERNMENT WARNING / DIRECT CONTROL on the drums, WASTED TIME have cranked up the heat with their punishing blend of fast hardcore that falls somewhere in between POISON IDEA and SS DECONTROL. Definitely can't wait for this one to be out! If all goes according to plan, expect to see it sometime in March 2007. There is also a WASTED TIME CD in the works which will have both 7"s, as well as some extra stuff ... but more on that later.

Also, be sure to check out NO BULLSHIT VOL. 2 brought to you by the fine people at NO WAY RECORDS ... it features one of the rippinest WASTED TIME tracks, which didn't appear on their first 7". Best comp of 2006!

***GOVERNMENT WARNING - "ARRESTED" 7" E.P.

Holy crap 2007 is looking like it's gonna be an incredible year for us! We couldn't be more stoked to be releasing a brand new 7" from RICHMOND, VA's own GOVERNMENT WARNING! "ARRESTED" is the follow up single to their "NO MODERATION" LP released last year on FERAL WARD, and will feature four brand new songs in that same style of classic early 80s hardcore punk rock that you have come to expect from GW ... more info on it later but prepare yourself for yet another incredible release from these dudes.

***DEEP SLEEP BACK TOGETHER!!!!

Yes, the rumors are true! Although they thought about calling it quits in fall of 2006, DEEP SLEEP have decided to start playing again and that is some of the best news we've heard in a while! They actually have a brand new song (well, recorded in August but new to you) over at www.myspace.com/deepsleepmusic so go ahead and check that out and keep your eyes peeled for another DEEP SLEEP record sometime this year as well!

Our two final releases for 2006 are looking to be the 86 MENTALITY "S/T" 7" repress due sometime this fall and the TIME TO ESCAPE 7" which will probably be out sometimes in late Novemeber / early December.

2007 is looking like it's going to be an incredible year ... we have a bunch of stuff lined up, and as much as I'd like to let the cat out of the bag right now, I'm going to keep you all guessing for another month or so.

What you can expect first in the new year is a brand new 7" E.P. from WASTED TIME, as well as a CD version which will contain all of their new material, their debut 7", and hopefully some awesome extras as well. Sadly, the band has parted ways with their original drummer Jason, however the good news is that Brandon of DIRECT CONTROL / GOVERNMENT WARNING / NO WAY RECORDS fame has stepped up to take over permanent drum duties. They are currently in the process of writing new material (which fucking obliterates), and should hopefully hit the studio before the end of the year.

After its fair share of delays, we are extremely excited to announce that the second E.P. from St. Louis' CARDIAC ARREST is now available! CARDIAC ARREST deliver six brand new ripping tracks of fast and pissed hardcore, reminiscent of early boston bands like NEGATIVE FX or the F.U.'s. If you were smart enough to pick up their debut 7", you should have an idea of what to expect, only even better this time around!

Clocking in six songs in approximately six minutes, this E.P. will have you floored before you even realize what hit you. Short, fast, raw, abrasive and in your face, exactly how hardcore was meant to be played. We have a bunch of limited versions available in our webstore, including copies on clear vinyl (out of 300), and a ton of copies with the limited cover (out of 200) we made for Pointless Fest (which ended abruptly 2 days earlier than planned). The first press of CLOAK/DAGGER's debut 7", "PINATA," is technically all gone, BUT we still have about 15 copies available in the webstore, so if you haven't picked one up yet, better do so fast! Or if you see it in your local distro or favorite online mailorder, be sure to grab it!

CLOAK/DAGGER will be releasing their next record on JADE TREE RECORDS, we think that's pretty damn cool and wish them the best! They have been playing all over the place lately, so if they are in your area be sure to check em out!

DEEP SLEEP -"YOU'RE SCREWED" SECOND PRESS ON GREEN VINYL!

Thanks to everyone who picked up the DEEP SLEEP 7", we blew through the first press a lot quicker than expected! Good news for those that were sleeping the first time around ... we have repressed this nine song masterpiece once again, including 400 on nice green vinyl (to match the green print on the second press covers) ... so even if you missed out, you can still own a DEEP SLEEP record on nice colored wax ... or if you are a collector you can purchase yet another copy to file away in the D section of your record box, never to be played or looked at until you throw it on ebay. Don't feel bad, we all do it ... trust me. Anyways, we have the green version available in the webstore now so go ahead and add one to your shopping cart.

SET TO EXPLODE 7" REPRESS ON WHITE VINYL!

The SET TO EXPLODE 7" got the repress treatment as well for the third time, 500 more on white vinyl. Hopefully you have this record already, but if not ... grab one. Colored vinyl sounds better than black vinyl, so you actually may have done something right by waiting until now to buy this 7"

What's been up with STE lately? We have no clue. Did they break up? No clue. Get a new guitar player? No clue. Are they going to put out another record? No clue. Hopefully we'll get some answers within the near future, but for the meantime we are all just going to have to sweat it out until we get an official press release from the band, which will then probably be immediately followed up by a second press release from the band, stating the exact opposite as the first.

UP NEXT ...

Well, we promised you two things at the beginning of the 2006 ... the first 86 MENTALITY 7" remastered and repressed, and a TIME TO ESCAPE 7". The 86 MENTALITY material has just been remastered and should be in my hands this week. If all is good, it's off to the presses. We will keep you updated.

TIME TO ESCAPE decided to call it quits before recording their debut 7", but since we are always using our thinking caps here at GM HQ, the executive decision was made to release the five songs used for their demo on vinyl. The songs are just too damn good to fade into CDR demo obscurity, plus they only made a couple hundred, so we felt obligated to give them the vinyl treatment. They have been mastered along with the 86 stuff, so expect these two 7"s to be out sometime this fall.

Finally, WASTED TIME are almost ready to record their second 7", they've been playing some new songs live which fuckin destroy, so needless to say, their next record will rip just as hard, if not harder than their debut. They are shooting to get into the studio before winter hits ... and if all goes as planned we will be releasing a CD version as well with both EPs and hopefully some extras as well.

We have several more tricks up our sleeve, however we are not at liberty to release any info regarding such tricks just yet. But they are good tricks which will be well worth the wait, not shitty ones that will leave you disappointed and unfulfilled. I'll leave you with that ... I need sleep.

Holy shit, the response to the DEEP SLEEP EP has been incredible, thanks to everyone who ordered a copy, picked up some for distro, or picked one up from the band ... we couldn't be happier with the feedback we've received! First press is almost gone, so if you haven't picked up a copy (ON BLUE VINYL!) yet, please do so fast! Or you can pick this record up from any of your favorite distros or mailorders (except the ones that never wrote me back) ... we have a few copies left for wholesale, but not many at all ... however the repress is on the way so we should have it ready to go again by mid July. DEEP SLEEP will be playing a handful of shows over the summer, so check em out!

CARDIAC ARREST - "LIFE'S A DEAD END" 7" E.P. OUT SOON!

So close we can almost taste it ... if all goes well we should expect to see the second EP from St. Louis, MO's CARDIAC ARREST sometime in late JULY. Both us and NO WAY RECORDS cannot wait to get this EP out and about ... expect six brand new raging cuts drawing some strong influences from early Boston hardcore. From start to finish CARDIAC ARREST doesn't let up one bit ... definitely one intense record.

UP NEXT ...

Unfortunately, TIME TO ESCAPE have decided to throw in the towel before recording their EP, total bummer but I guess sometimes these things happen. There is a small chance they will hit the studio before calling it a day, but it looks like a vinyl offering is looking unlikely.

The remastering and repressing of 86 MENTALITY's first EP is DEFINITELY still on the agenda, hopefully we can get cracking on it sometime this summer. Also we can look forward to new releases from WASTED TIME and DEEP SLEEP later this year, with plans to get both bands material to date in digital format. Nothing is definite yet, but we have our fingers crossed that this stuff will be in your hands by the end of the year!

We are extremely excited and very proud to announce that the brand new debut 9 song EP from Baltimore's DEEP SLEEP is now available for mass consumption! Prepare yourself for a nonstop barrage of raw, spiteful, in your face hardcore punk rock. Drawing some heavy influences from classic 80's socal bands punk (a little DESCENDENTS and ADOLESCENTS worship never hurt anyone), while maintaining a healthy dose of originality, DEEP SLEEP have created a soon to be modern punk rock classic, loaded with enough infectious hooks to keep you singing along from start to finish, yet packing enough punch to knock you straight on your ass at the same time.

CLOAK/DAGGER 7" OUT SOON (WE PROMISE)

2006 has not been our year so far with new releases, as both the DEEP SLEEP and CLOAK/DAGGER 7"s went through some serious unexpected problems and had to be redone from scratch ... well you just read that the DEEP SLEEP 7" is finally finished, and we are happy to report that the debut EP from Richmond's CLOAK/DAGGER isn't far behind.

If you have been lucky enough to catch them live or get your hands on their demo, then you should already have an idea of what to expect from their new record. And if those expectations are high, then we think you will be quite pleased, as CLOAK/DAGGER have created one hell of a punk rock record that will most likely not leave your turntable.

Unfortunately, CLOAK/DAGGER's guitar player broke himself in a tragic bicycle accident last month, forcing the band to take an unexpected hiatus. On the brightside however, from what we've heard recovery seems to be coming along nicely and it looks like they may be ready to play out again shortly after the record comes out ... so keep your eyes and ears peeled for more updates on that front.

We won't be doing any preorders for this 7", but hope to have it sometime by early to mid June, you'll know as soon as we have it trust us.

SET TO EXPLODE EUROPEAN TOUR!

DC's SET TO EXPLODE will be heading over to EUROPE for a quick week of shows, beginning with the last DEAD STOP show on May 20. I'd post info but the damn thing sold out before DEAD STOP even decided to break up, so oh well. I'll be at home that evening sitting in silence, mourning the loss of one of our generation's greatest hardcore bands ... and I mean that.

I'm gonna keep this short because I'm tired of typing ... expect the second 7" from CARDIAC ARREST out sometime in early summer on GRAVE MISTAKE / NO WAY RECORDS (AKA NO MISTAKE RECORDS). If you come across their debut 7" on Underestimated Records, do yourself a favor and pick it up.

BRIEF NEWS UPDATE

Another 2 months go by, and no news ... sorry about that. Here is a brief update: last month, both the DEEP SLEEP and CLOAK/DAGGER 7" test presses came back with problems, so both records got pushed back about three weeks. Good news is that we are back on track, DEEP SLEEP will be out VERY SOON (next week maybe?) and CLOAK/DAGGER hopefully end of the month.

Once the DEEP SLEEP "YOU'RE SCREWED" 7" is ready for order, we'll have a bigger update for you. Thanks for reading!

DEEP SLEEP - "YOU'RE SCREWED" 7" OUT NEXT MONTH!

We are excited as hell to announce that the debut 7" from Baltimore's DEEP SLEEP will be out next month. What you can expect are nine highly catchy blasts of snot-nosed, spiteful, in your face hardcore punk rock reminiscent of favorite 80's so cal bands (descendents, di, adolescents, etc), with their own flavor thrown in ... you won't be able to get these songs out of your head.

The masters just got shipped off last week, hopefully we won't have to wait too long ... we put up some mp3s on our myspace site to tide you over until this piece of wax is ready for consumption, or you can check out the band's page at www.myspace.com/deepsleepmusic

CLOAK / DAGGER RECORDING FOR THEIR NEW 7" EP

Richmond's CLOAK / DAGGER are putting the finishing touches on their new EP as I type this ... if you picked up their demo and were into it, then you will most likely fall in love with the new record. Keeping with their same style of high intensity guitar driven punk rock, CLOAK / DAGGER have perfected their sound even more and will most likely take the world by storm once this EP drops.

TOURS

Spring is almost upon us, and bands are gearin up to hit the road. All of the bands have myspace pages, which you can get to through www.myspace.com/gravemistakerecords.

DOWN TO NOTHING will be doing a 10 day spring break stint with RVA bros BRACEWAR (get the new 7" on BRAIN GRENADE RECORDS!) and then will be going over to Europe next month as well.

RUINER are always on tour, quite understandable because if I lived in Baltimore I wouldn't want to be home either.

Both SET TO EXPLODE and IRON BOOTS will be heading over to Europe as well in May to bid farewell to our good friends in DEAD STOP. They will be doing their own tours across Europe, so please check them out if you can! Tad from STE will be heading over a month early to play some bass with the World's Famous SLUMLORDS on their euro tour, so say hi to him and stare in awe at his punk rockness.

CLOAK / DAGGER will be doing a weekend tour with GOVERNMENT WARNING at the end of March ... check their site for show info.

A bunch of bands will be playing MACROCK in HARRISONBURG, VA this year ... usually this two day event is quite lackluster, packed with shitty glam metalcore and pretentious screamo indie rock bike punx core ... but this year Mr. Phil Matthews has put together quite the hardcore show on Saturday, April 8, so make plans to travel because it will be quite a good time. LATER IN 2006 ...

The 86 MENTALITY S/T 7" repress is still on the agenda, it's looking like we might get to that in April. The plan is to get it remastered from the original mix, so it will sound a little bit better this time around. Also, we think it's an incredible record so we want to keep it available to those who'd like to own it on vinyl.

TIME TO ESCAPE are finishing up songs for their 7", they don't have a recording date yet but don't be surprised if you see their record pop up before summer hits. We love their demo so much, can't wait to hear these new songs ... check em out at www.myspace.com/timetoescape

THE AFTERMATH DISCOGRAPHY ... This was Nicktape from Bail Out's deal, but I think he died so who the hell knows? If it happens, it happens and it will be quite sweet.

We have another damn cool project in the works, but we are still sorting out the details ... if everything works out we will be teaming up with our friends at NO WAY RECORDS to release the second EP of a certain Midwest band who's debut 7" had us (and hopefully everyone else) floored. We'll keep you posted, try not to have a heart attack thinking about who it might be.

QUICK NEWS UPDATE FOR THE NEW YEAR

First off, thanks to everyone who supported us in 2005, we had quite a busy year! Looking back, I can't believe we managed to release eight 7"s and two CDs in one year, and we couldn't have done it with out everyone's support. To the bands, the other labels we worked with, people who picked up the record, helped distro the record, helped or supported us in anyway ... thank you. 2006 should be just as good, if not better.

The WASTED TIME 7" is still available in our webstore, however we are down to our last few copies of the first press. Brain Grenade still has a good amount of colored vinyl left, so feel free to him them up at braingrenade@gmail.com for ordering info. Distros should also get in touch with Brain Grenade if you would like to pick up copies.

Baltimore's DEEP SLEEP have finished recording for their 7", which should be out sometime in February. Combining heavy influences from some of your favorite socal punk bands (Adolescents, Descendents, D.I., etc) while adding their own unique touch, DEEP SLEEP have created one hell of a snotty, in your face punk rock record that we couldn't be more stoked to release. Richmond's CLOAK/DAGGER finally got to play two shows in their hometown, and left quite a few people impressed. If all goes according to plan, they will be recording three or four new tracks sometime in early February. Washington DC's TIME TO ESCAPE will be playing some shows in the DC / VA area this month, we'll have more info on the status of their EP hopefully within the next couple of weeks. For now, check out: www.myspace.com/timetoescape for some MP3's from their demo and show dates.
